Upcoming trail races for the weekend of 4/20 & 4/21

With the weather giving us plenty of trail time lately I have been able to log many more trail miles than in months past. I'm really excited about racing on some of these trails as it has been several months since I have done a "local" trail event. I've decided on one so far (Horseshoe Lake in May!)and am quickly narrowing down my choices thereafter. If your not already running one of the big road races being held this weekend (Presidio 10),  then take a look at whats coming up this weekend to help fill up your race calendar.

Diablo Trails Challenge- Saturday the 20th- Walnut Creek, CA- 50k, Half, 10k & 5k-    For over 40 years, Save Mount Diablo has worked tirelessly to preserve and increase the open space on and around Mount Diablo. In that time, their efforts have taken us from 6,788 acres of open space to over 100,000 acres of open space on and around the mountain!

With distances suitable for everyone from those hitting the trail for the first time to experienced ultra-runners, the Diablo Trails Challenge was created to help celebrate and support these achievements. A portion of all entry fees will go to Save Mount Diablo to help them continue preserving open space and trails for all of us to enjoy.

Ayala Cove Trail Run- Saturday the 20th- Ayala Cove, Angel Island State Park- 5mi, 10mi & 15mi-  Angel Island is a hilly, grass- and forest-covered island that provides spectacular views of Marin County, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate. Trails and roads circle the entire island and climb Mount Livermore. Bring the whole family and enjoy a post-run picnic at beautiful Ayala Cove.
See you in the woods,
Jonathan
