Free running event this Sunday 9/21/14 in Tiburon

How often do you hear that? "Free running event" sounds like a foreign language to me! Marathon Matt is speaking my kind of language with the Tiburon Tune Up Run this coming Saturday, September 21, 2014. Whether you are running the Tiburon Half in October and looking for a course preview or just taking in the amazing views of the bay from Tiburon, you get a 5 mile run that is sure to be awesome. The run starts at 9:30 a.m. and finishes at Sam's Anchor Cafe where exotic raffle prizes will be given away like a Red Hot Chili Pepper. Up for grabs are (2) Fitbits, (2) Entries into the Tiburon Half/ 10k/ 5k and (1) Lucky person is going home with a free entry into the soon to be sold out HONEY BADGER HALF!!! Save a beer for me!!! Do Not Fret if you have already signed up for the Honey Badger. It's a popular race. We get it. So if you have already paid and you win.......Sasquatch Racing will give you credit for a future race or refund your entry fee. No kidding. This is legit and its gonna be huge.

If you do the run, love the course, want to sign up for the Tiburon Half/10k/5k....... then use the code FITBIT at checkout and save 30%

If you want to enter the Honey Badger before they sell out use SFTrails at checkout and SAVE $5

Trail racing in the Bay Area for March 2014

Badger Cove is part of the Brazen Ultra Half Series
14 races (maybe 15???) to choose from in the month of March. That's 5 more than last month and a sure sign that spring is on it's way. I have finally made up my mind on what type of running I want to do in 2014. I've decided to run the required 5 races plus the finale in Brazen Racing's Ultra Half Series. The series is 13 races and a finale but to be considered a finalist in the series you only need to run 5 of the 13 and then run the finale. Sounds like a fun challenge! The series has already ran 3 races which leave 10 to choose from so I better get on the stick and start running some of these races. Race #1 for me will be March's Badger Cove on the 15th. I might jump into the Woodside Half a few weeks earlier just because I love Huddart Park. Most people will probably run the Marin Ultra Challenge on the 15th so if you think you want in on that race I would suggest signing up early. This month has a couple ultra distance races and a couple marathons to choose from so not only are we getting more races but along with that we are getting more distances to choose from which is awesome! Check it out......

Upcoming Races for the weekend of 3/9 & 3/10

The "big race" for me this year will likely be this weekends Way Too Cool 50k. This race is wildly popular and people from all over the world want to run it. More people want to run this race than the trails will allow so they have to hold a lottery for the racers to get into this race and I just happen to get "picked" to run this. That is a big thrill on the one hand because I am going to be running with some of the best ultra runners in the world but on the other hand I am missing out on a really good race in the bay area this weekend. For trail runners looking to race this weekend you don't really have much of a choice. Most race directors realize that most trail runners will be either running or volunteering at the WTC 50k so they purposely don't book an event this weekend. Luckily Enviro-Sports has an event!

Angel Island State Park

You'll fall in love with San Francisco all over again as you follow this hilly loop trail circumnavigating Angel Island. Along the way, savor the panoramic vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay and Marin County. The 12K is a single loop. The 25K does the loop twice.

See you in the Sierra's
