The weather is turning fast and the heat wave of early September is fading fast. The trails are covered with a few extra leaves and we can finally go for a run without carrying 10 gallons of water with us! It's almost October and we have a really nice selection of races at every distance. I think a few of these are very close to selling out due to popular demand vs trail permit limits (Honeybadger!). Looks like PCTrails is re-branding their Stinson Beach event as the Eldrith Gosney Pure Ultra in honor of the 74 year old Bay Area trail running legend. REI (the retailer) is holding an event in Marin. The Sonoma Trail Marathon is an event I am unfamiliar with so if anyone runs this one I would love to here about it.

October trail racing in the San Francisco Bay Area

I've been preparing for October all year long. The Brazen Ultra Half Series comes to an end with the Rocky Ridge Championship race on October 4th. Sasquatch is also closing out their year with the mega popular Honey Badger Half at China Camp State Park (last I heard this was close to sold out). Save a beer for me! Bummer I can't run Skyline to Sea again this year. That is a great race with really nice views. There is about 15 races to choose from this month and they are spread out all over the area and every distance from the 2 mile to the 50 mile is available. You gotta love the choices in the Bay Area. See you out there.

The final Sasquatch race of 2014, The Honey Badger Half/10K/5K on 10/25 at China Camp State Park in San Rafael is coming soon and I have a discount for ya!.

Nike Womans Marathon Bib For Sale

 A friend of mine from my running group can no longer participate in the NWM on October 20th. The event is sold out to my knowledge so if you want to run the full marathon leave a comment below. Trail racing in the Bay Area for October 2013

Trail racing in the bay area is at its best in  October in my opinion. The heat of summer is mostly behind us replaced by the crisp, cool autumn weather. A little rain starts to creep in and the dry dusty hardpack gives way to a softer more forgiving trail. The colors are changing and the trees are really begging to be looked at. If your not out in the woods in October you may want to check your status as a trail runner. Check out the upcoming races around the bay and do yourself a solid, sign up for an awesome race.
