Upcoming trail races in the Bay Area for the weekend of 4/27 & 4/28

This weekend the vast majority of runners will probably be running the Big Sur Marathon. That road race is a major event that draws people from all over to run it. The Leona Divide ultra is taking place down south as well so that's going to draw the runners away from the Bay Area too. For those reasons I thought we wouldn't really have a lot of trail races to choose from but we do! Four great races are spread all over the Bay Area and every distance from 1.5mi to 50mi is available this weekend including the odd 18.8 mile race in Los Gatos. So, if by chance you aren't running one of the big name races, come on out and get a little dirt under your feet at one of these local races.

Upcoming trail races for the weekend of 3/23 & 3/24

Napa Trail Marathon is SOLD OUT
Three great races to choose from this weekend if your willing to travel just a bit. There are actually 4 races being held this weekend but only 3 to choose from because the Napa Trail race put on by Enviro-Sports is sold out. Every distance from 5k to 50k is available this weekend including a 9k and two 30k's, distance's that you dont see everyday. Thats spells instant PR! If you're willing to drive you can race on the Western States Trail or as I like to call it The Way Too Cool Trail. Whichever race you choose I'm sure you're you will have a great time as temperatures are suppose to be near 70 degrees.

Upcoming trail races for the weekend of 3/16 & 3/17

Quite a few St Patricks Day road runs are happening all over the bay this weekend and the ever popular Emerald Across the Bay is this weekend as well. Perhaps thats why we don't have a lot of trail races to choose from this weekend. We do have 2 races and between them almost any distance you could want is represented. Check em out.

Upcoming races for the weekend of 3/2 & 3/3

3 more great trail races are scheduled for this coming weekend and they are all on Saturday. No Sunday trail races for this weekend. Woodside runs are always a favorite of mine and I am quite disappointed that I'm not able to run it this weekends Huddart Park offering. The King's Mountain Half is a great run put on by a great organization and it is currently the course that holds my trail half PR!!! I think I will plot out next years late winter races a little more carefully. In any case, If you're not running the Napa Valley Marathon (like me) you may want to register for one of these 3 upcoming races....

Not much to report this time of year for trail runs. We have a couple races coming up this weekend but only one is still registering runners.

Trail races in the Bay Area for the weekend of 12/15 & 12/16

Four great trailruns to choose from and they are all on Saturday so this leaves Sunday open for recovery. If you area looking for the hardest race choose the Rodeo Valley event. If you're looking to take it a bit easier but still challenge yourself head over to Woodside. If your looking for flat long distance's on dirt meet up at the Baylands Athletic Center in Palo Alto with the Zombie Runner Staff and hit the dirt fire roads of the marshlands. For a little Christmas cheer you can take it easy in Orinda at the Dam Jingle Bell Dash.

Thanksgiving holiday hikes in the bay area!

Mid Peninsula Open Space Preserve in fog
Everybody has heard of and probably participated in a Turkey Trot. Some did their annual run this last weekend while others will wait until the traditional Thursday morning or first Saturday following Thanksgiving to burn a few extra calories. Have you ever heard of a Turkey Trek? No, me neither but you can learn all about it in the Mid Peninsula Open Space Preserve's Fall 2012 newsletter. On page 16 they have 3 activities listed to help get you out of the house and into the woods over the holiday weekend.
