3 more great trail races are scheduled for this coming weekend and they are all on Saturday. No Sunday trail races for this weekend. Woodside runs are always a favorite of mine and I am quite disappointed that I'm not able to run it this weekends Huddart Park offering. The King's Mountain Half is a great run put on by a great organization and it is currently the course that holds my trail half PR!!! I think I will plot out next years late winter races a little more carefully. In any case, If you're not running the Napa Valley Marathon (like me) you may want to register for one of these 3 upcoming races....
Hellyer Half Marathon- Saturday March 2nd- Half Marathon, 10k & 5k - Hellyer County Park, San Jose. With a mildly rolling course hugging Cottonwood Lake and then Coyote Creek, this race was made for first-timers and those looking to break through with a new personal record! Come join us on this late winter morning and enjoy this picturesque, family friendly park and trail! All distances are on paved bike paths and start at Hellyer County Park then continue out Coyote Creek Parkway.
Woodside Kings Mountain Half- Saturday March 2nd- Half Marathon, 5 mile- Huddart County Park, Woodside. The scenic course may humble you, with its 1,880 feet of climbing and descending - but at the same time, the remarkable surroundings will energize you as you navigate the lush hiking trails of the Santa Cruz mountains. Along the course, you'll be shielded by redwood and oak forests and bordered by sprays of vibrant wildflowers. The climb will take you just shy of reaching Skyline Blvd. Who wants to be reminded of traffic anyway? At the turn-around aid station, you'll be able to fuel up for your descent back into Woodside. 5-milers turn around at an earlier point along the course. This is the half marathon that will rocket you towards your spring marathon goal. The event is limited to 300 participants so don't wait too long to register!
Sanborn Park Trail Challenge- Half Marathon, 9 mile, 4.2 mile- Sanborn Park, Saratoga. This run is in Sanborn Park situated in the hills above Saratoga. Course description, 95% single track, extremely mountainous, very technical, lushly wooded, mixed evergreen forest, featuring Redwood, Douglass Fir, Oak Madrone, and Tanbark Oak. The address is 16055 Sanborn Rd. Saratoga, CA 95070. You can reach the park office at: (408) 867-9959
See you in the woods,
Jonathan
