Races in the Bay Area for the weekend of 12/8 & 12/9

West Coast Trail Runs
Four great races coming up this weekend and one of them is from a newbie. At least to me they are new. West Coast Trail Runs  located in San Jose is putting on a race at Coyote Lake in Gilroy. Don't confuse that race with the Coyote Ridge race happening up in Muir Beach. Brazen Racing & Enviro Sports are both offering great trail races this weekend as well. I'm not doing any of these as I have to save myself for next weeks 50k but if I had to choose I would probably go with the Coyote Lake event just to see if West Coast Trail Runs puts on a good event. We can always use another player in the trail run community around here so best of luck to them.

  • Coyote Ridge - 12/8 - Muir Beach - 50k, Marathon, 20 mi, 10mi, 7 mi - These hilly, scenic loop courses start at the ocean in Muir Beach. All events head south along the Coastal Trail with spectacular views of Pirates Cove.
  • Summit Rock - 12/8 - Saratoga - Half Marathon, 10k, 5k -  Tucked away just outside Silicon Valley, Sanborn County Park features miles of single-track trails dappled with filtered light through lush canopy. Be warned... this is technical trail running at its best. If you look up your going down!
  • Hark the Hearald Angels - 12/8 - Angel Island - 25k, 15k - You'll fall in love with San Francisco all over again as you follow this hilly loop trail circumnavigating Angel Island. Along the way, savor the panoramic vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay and Marin County.
  • Coyote Lake Trail Run - 12/8 - Gilroy - Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, 5k - The course travels through the hills just above Coyote Lake. It features rolling hills through the dried grasses of the Santa Clara Valley. The Half Marathon is a single loop while the Marathon is two of the same loop. The 10k is a smaller loop along parts of the Half Marathon loop. The half and full marathon have about 3 miles of single track and 10 miles of well groomed fire roads.

See you in the woods,
Jonathan
