Races of note for the weekend of 11/10 & 11/11

Not a whole lot happening in the running world this weekend in the bay area. Just outside of the bay area we have two races to choose from and one of them is a memorial race raising money for a family who has lost a loved one. Mt Tam on Sunday is the one note worthy trail run of the weekend. A few smaller road runs are happening here and there. If your trying to stay local and get in on a good event I suggest meeting up with me over in Stinson Beach on Sunday morning!

  • Mt. TamalpaisTrail Run- Sunday- Mt. Tamalpais is the dominating feature in Marin County. Any true trail runner who sees it wants to run up it. Here’s your chance. The Mt. Tam Trail Run begins at Stinson Beach and climbs (and climbs!) to perched views from Tam before returning via some of the best trails the Headlands have to offer until reaching the beach and bountiful post race food. Bring the family and enjoy an afternoon with friends in the sand and surf. Check out the tab labeled "Routes" for more info as this course is the featured route of the week.

  •   Wine & Warriors- Sunday- I don’t know much about Ready, Set, Go events and not much is available online about this race but I did find this on the official website. "The course will wind throughout the Yountville Veteran's Home and a portion of the Domaine Chandon Vineyard property. The course is paved surface, except for a short portion of dirt path/service road."

  • Run d'Amore Ultramarathons- Saturday- This is a charity event in memory of "Titanium Man" Pete Mingoa. The race bills itself as a "fat ass" race (google it) which it technically is not, but billing itself as such should tip you off that not much in the way of support will be offered at this event. Distances for this "race" are 50k, 100k, 100m & 201k. A fee is charged to run this, shirts are given to participants and rewards are given to charity fund raisers.
I know it's not a trail race but we don't have much to choose from this weekend. If your looking for a good time, hook up with Rob from Baytrailrunners.com. He does a free group run every Saturday morning that's always a good time. Maybe next week we will have a few more races to choose from!

See you in the woods,

Jonathan
